If you have been thinking about leaving the person who batters you, you may want to put some important things together in case you have to leave quickly. Keep these items in a bag or backpack stored at a neighbor's, at a relative's, or in your car.

  • Driver's License or ID
  • Birth Certificate for you and children
  • Money
  • Pink slip for your car
  • Credit cards, check book
  • Insurance papers
  • Car and house keys
  • Medications, medical records
  • Social Security cards for you and children
  • Medi-Cal, Medi-Care cards
  • Divorce papers or Restraining Orders
  • Copies of any police reports or hospital reports related to the violence
